Investment Criteria
The fund makes investments by providing both debt and equity to transactions which fall broadly within the following sectors:
- water
- renewable energy
- biofuels
- biomass
- power generation
Whilst a private initiative, the fund aims to provide a reasonable and commercial rate of return to its investors while, at the same time, promoting the availability of capital in markets where it is not ordinarily available at an acceptable price. All investments must be approved by the Investment Committee and are structured and documented to international standards. They must also meet strict environmental, social and corporate governance standards.
The fund aims to invest for the long term - up to 15 years - and does not seek short term returns required by many private equity funds.
There is no geographical limit on where the fund can invest nor any restriction on the size of any individual investment.
